| Are You Ripping Off Movies or Getting Ripped Off?

I have to say, the movie industry actually pisses me off even more than the RIAA. They keep whining about movie piracy on the internet. Am I the only one that's tired of hearing it? As far as I'm concerned, they have no business whining about people pirating things until they quit expecting us to wait 6-12 months for the goddamn DVD release of the movie. They also need to quit wasting so much money on copy protections that don't fucking work! You can't stop people from copying the discs! No matter what you do, someone is going to find a way around it the same goddamn day. You're not even delaying piracy. You're having NO effect on it whatsoever. Maybe if you quit throwing money away on that shit, you'd be able to have a lower MSRP on the damn movies. Does anyone remember the VHS days? New movies were like $15 on VHS when Walmart got them. Now these assholes expect us to pay $30 for straight-to-DVD releases! WHAT THE FUCK!? DVDs are cheaper to manufacture and reproduce, but we're sure the fuck not seeing the savings. I'd like to have Braveheart on DVD--mainly because the damn VHS is 2 tapes and I don't like switching--but I'm not paying $14 for a movie that's 10 years old! Not to mention the fact I already paid for the VHS edition. Greedy fuckin assholes! How bout an exchange program? If you already bought the tape, then you paid for the movie. Why the fuck should getting the same thing on a different type of media cost anymore than the media itself is worth?
Hell, they don't even sell fullscreen and widescreen editions together anymore. They used to sell movies that were double sided discs or 2 disc sets which included BOTH goddamn versions. Now they sell them separately so if you want both versions, you have to buy the motherfucker twice!
Let us not forget that they release everything on DVD multiple times too now. First they'll release a regular edition, then a Special Edition which is usually nothing special at all.I've seen enough of these lame ass Special Edition DVD releases. I don't give a shit about behind the scenes footage, storyboards, commentary, etc. and I doubt many other people do. If you wanna release something extra, give us the goddamn Director's Cut, Unrated Version, or Extended Edition! Otherwise, it's not worth buying. Then they'll do Ultimate Editions or even Extreme Editions which have even less content. The Special Editions of the Rambo trilogy had both fullscreen and widescreen versions; the Ultimate Editions only had 2.35:1 insano fucking widescreen. Same with Carlito's Way. And How the fuck could they not offer a fullscreen version of Titanic on DVD!?
Then, of course, you have DVD packaging. Have you unwrapped a DVD lately? First, you have to get that noisy fucking cellophane off and hope it's not glued to the spine of the damn case. Then you have to try to get the stickers off 3 sides of the case without fucking up the plastic sleeve they're stuck to. You also have to hope the label isn't sticking out of the plastic sleeve enough for the sticker to be on it. If it is, you'll ruin the fuckin label taking the sticker off. Then you have to hope the case design was good enough to actually hold the disc in place, so it's not loose in the bloody case and to too scratched to watch when you finally get the bastard open. Why all this shit for a fucking disc case!?!?!? And why do they still make those shitty cardboard cases with the metal clip on one side? Those really suck. I'd rather have CD jewel cases.
